Over the last few days I have been in contact with a Japanese guy who I found on the hospitality for cyclists website - warm-showers. I was headed in his direction and he was keen to meet. Currently he is living with his family in Wakayama so he had to ask his folks if it would be ok for my to stay a night. I didn't have my hopes up knowing that he was living with his parents but it was worth a try. Unfortunately his mother said no, which I can completely understand; some random stranger coming to spend the night, however the reasoning, at least to me, didn't make much sense. The reason his mother said no was that Go's( the guy I contacted) sister was having her exams within the week... And have a guess what subject, English! What better way to learn the language than to speak to a native English speaker. The logic behind Go's mother is beyond me.
I was more disappointed because the weather forecast predicted terrible weather over the next day or two and I really didn't want to get stuck in it, but luck seemed to be on my side because it only slightly drizzled in the early afternoon.

It was a fast paced morning due to a great tailwind and when I finally made it back to the coast I had a relieving traffic free closed road all to myself avoiding a long tunnel.

I had my first experience of road rage today where a truck came within an inch or two of my handlebars, at the next set of traffic lights, I let him know... as much as I could do with the gesturing, expressing my annoyance and followed by the middle finger... multiple times.
