Last night I camped in an abandoned hotel/camping ground void of any residents so I pitched my tent under the main shelter after some repairs on my bike that certainly needed servicing i.e. brakes. Also the rear hub that I replaced in Borobudur, Java is acting up and hopefully soon when I get my hands on some tools ill be needing to rip the thing apart to clean out whatever is jamming it. Everything on my bike is not working as it should at the moment but I suppose neglecting it when I was sick on Gili Trawangan it being exposed to the salt in the air has rusted many of the components.
I'm incredibly glad I adjusted the brakes on my bike yesterday as when descending down from the stunning mountain pass reaching speeds of 60km +. Many sections of the road were not in good shape and abrupt braking was very necessary.
I had been told by many people that the south end of Lombok was a beautiful region and as such I went to go check it out.
I pushed myself hard today and I felt it too because when arriving in Kuta, Lombok my joints and muscles seized up and trying to sleep in the evening with a aching pains was not easy. I was lucky to find a cheap hotel to sleep at too as most of the accommodations were fully booked but searching for a decent place I met many people interested in my means of transportation around the world; I had a good evening chatting to many and sharing my stories over several dinners - I'm always hungry.
I'm finding the locals here even friendlier than those who I met in Java, I managed to get plenty of free food and drink today from the locals and its increasingly scenic here - one of the pictures I took below is the island of Sumbawa that you can see I the distance as I made my way towards the east coast of Lombok.
A hot, sunny, tiring and beautiful day of cycling with a variety of terrain, kind people and even starting the day with homemade ice-cream for breakfast - I couldn't have asked for more.
