When not under the influence of alcohol I have always found it hard to sleep in a hostel. Last night was no exception, with the added benefit of feeling like I had a cold coming on. Just great!
I couldn't regulate my body temperature this morning just sweating like crazy. I just wanted to get out of Amsterdam but fire I headed off I had to meet with Michelle who I met in Panama, we only met for a tea and a walk about that was short and sweet and later mounted all my gear and was on my way out of this not so pretty city headed south.
I wanted to check out Utrecht because it is suppose to be more of a pretty city than Amsterdam that is simply filled with high tourists but for some reason my GPS didn't direct me into the center I just scooted around the edge of the city before I realized I was too far south the decision of turning around was of of the question. I had to be in Aachen to see this lovely German girl in 3 days with 300km to get there and feeling under the weather is holding me back. Arggg, I shouldn't rush this trip but I have to because the friggen winter in around the corner.
For the last 20 odd kilometers of the day as it was getting dark I was looking for a place to camp - not an easy thing to do in the Netherlands; and after 3 attempts of asking people for a suitable place on route I met A guy named Bas, he said I could camp in his backyard and brought me back to his where I met his girlfriend and daughter. Bas, Mirjam and Meerl were just fantastic, Bas had a strong interest in photography and Mirjam was sweet and instead of pitching my tent in the backyard they let me sleep inside.
It was at 10o'clock when I went to bed, not feeling good enough to drink a beer; let's hope I feel better to tomorrow.
