I slept pretty damn well in this cooped up memorial kennel, and because I had almost no need to pack up my things I was good to go right after breakfast.
It was a freezing cold morning and the gloves I have been carrying for ages finally came to good use.
I was wanting to cycle close to 200km today, that's why I got up at 8:00 but due to my laziness I didn't put in the effort, not even to do the 100km average I want to do everyday.
I suppose the least I can do is through some excuses in, like getting pulled over by the police 5 minute after entering luxembourg, apparently you have to cycle on the footpaths in this country and listening to headphones is not allowed, I told them it was only to keep my ears warm - whether they believed me or not they let me be and was right back on the roadside as they drive away; this is because the footpath is far more dangerous and I am more likely to have an accident on this than on the side of the road where motorists can see me.
Also, the sidewalk was so shitty, often not complete and there is a high possibility that I will ruin my rims and/or wheel because the curbs here are not bicycle friendly.
At times where I could not cycle on the road I was shocked by the pedestrians lack of common courtesy towards cyclists, I damn nearly caused half a dozen accidents today as pedestrians didn't look to see me coming, not paying attention to where they are walking amongst other things that i could be blamed for.
Anyways, comparing countries north, east and west of Luxembourg, Luxembourg isn't a cycling country and it shows, I can only hope that i dont end up in hospital during the next 40km or so to get out of this place.
On a side note, Luxembourg is a nice city if, that is you like hills, there are some pretty steep ones too, often I was found pushing my bicycle up steep cobblestone footpaths.
But after taking a few photos around the city I was done and considered staying at the hostel where I used the Internet to update this blog whilst chatting to this American guy.
The weather forecasted rain for the afternoon and evening but I couldn't get around paying €25 for one night at the hostel.
I cycled in the drizzle until I found a forest I could pitch my tent up in.
Oh, did I mention before with that rant about how shitty Luxembourg is for cycling? Because there is no shoulder on the road - its so bloody sketchy!
5 minutes after taking this photo i get pulled over by the police.
