Out of all the countries I have now cycled I would have to say Luxembourg is by far the worst. As I mentioned (briefly) yesterday the people here haven't the slightest idea about common courtesy towards cyclists and like yesterday I had some close calls with running into or over pedestrians and motorists alike. I just wanted to get the fuck out of this country before I got myself or someone else killed or injured.
On my way out, just a kilometer before I hit the German border I met a Portuguese guy who was rolling a splif at a view point admiring the view between Germany and Luxembourg; Tiago and i had to communicate in Spanish which was a little weird to speak it again as it had been a long time since. Still he was a cool and gave me some cigarettes for my adventure.
Because I don't have to be in Karlsruhe where ill be seeing Nadine who i met briefly in a bar in London till Thursday afternoon I have some time to enjoy this cycle trip and take pictures when the opportunities arise.
The Google maps plotted route took me along some interesting and varied land today, from crazy steep and exhausting roads to paved but muddy (of the sticky kind) farm paddock roads on a plateau 400m above sea level then gravel forestry tracks that we're not suitable for cycling and finally alongside the river that will get me into Saarbrucken only 15km from where I camped. All these different terrains make the day more interesting and I'm glad I'm back in Germany where they actually give a shit about cyclists and give us some decent shoulders and dedicated paths to cycle on.
Buying some groceries I cooked up a fantastic meal for dinner making sure I had some leftovers for tomorrow.
Now with a full stomach I reckon I'll be able to sleep well, not that I ever have an issue sleeping beside a road in my tiny tent on uneven terrain.
Buenos Noches!IMG_1026IMG_1028
