I recall this from last time I was in Germany, on weekends and public holidays stores are generally closed or have limited opening hours. For example, its saturday and the information center I went to in Rendsburg was not open at 4pm, the library was shut all day and the only place I could use the Internet was a shitty computer in a small casino that was, unlike everything else open all day.
Even all the McDonalds where I would normally connect to the Internet had a different wi-fi system where you could only connect to the Internet if you had a German phone number, which I don't. *sigh*
One bonus of being in this country is that the supermarket prices are almost a fraction of the prices you would pay in Scandinavia. Especially the Aldi and Lidl stores.
For the first 30km cycled this morning from where I woke up in a real shitty spot beside a parking lot I had nothing to eat aside from a couple of bites of a bruised apple i had in my food bag nor did know for the longest time if I was heading on the right road out of Flensburg.
It seems to be reoccurring circumstance, almost every day I loose time and energy not knowing where I am either backtracking or asking for directions or sometimes both; it sucks but if I were able to install European maps on my GPS things would be far simpler.
One highlight for the day was crossing a river in Rendsburg using the gondola/ferry/bridge/transport thing. Apparently there are only 2 of these things in the world – and even though it was a highlight for the day it wasn't all that spectacular.
I went all out today and bought a shit load of junk food and good eats to keep myself happy and energized but more so on the happy side because these last couple of days haven't been all that fun, the sun is rarely out and the wind is annoying, I haven't been able to communicate with many people because of the language barrier but tomorrow I'll be in hamburg seeing an old buddy from central America. All should be better.

Road signs can be a little confusing here… it does make sense but i dont like to take the cycle paths that go on gravel paths.
