Because Martin is a baker he has to wake very early, also I wanted an early start this morning so I got up also at 6am. After a few coffees and managing to get my eyes open I said thanked Martin for his hospitality and for being such a great guy helping me out with accommodation while most of the others I wanted to see in Copenhagen were busy with their personal lives. The sunshine in the morning didn't last long when i was making my way out of the city, racing the cyclists going to work without their knowledge when soon after the dark clouds rolled in. I had two options this morning, one was to get to Roskilde direct the other was to take the coastal road that was suppose to be more enjoyable but far longer. As I woke early this morning I had plenty of time to kill so I took to the coast, at this point it started to drizzle and really it wasn't all that fun, just cold and wet although not very windy which is the one thing i hate, especially with head wind. Making it to Roskilde it started dumping down, I waited patiently under the shelter outside of of the information center in the town with a museum beneath it with 11th century church ruins that I was able to roam around alone. Whist waiting for my batteries to charge at the info center I cycled in the rain to the harbor where boat builders were recreating 12 century Viking ships, it was quite need but hard to enjoy when it was bucketing down. The bicycle route I took from Copenhagen was ridiculous, the direct road towards Kalundborg was roughly 100km. Just to where I camped for the evening was 123km and I still had 27km more to go. This meant I had to get up early tomorrow so I can get the ferry to Aarhus where I would be catching up with 2 girls I met in Columbia the first time I was there. At one point today I got incredibly lost because I didn't like where the bicycle route was taking me which was though rough gravelly ground so thinking I knew better I took a different route, this is why I got so lost and had to ask for directions. The directions I got which was also wrong took me at least 15 km to figure out until I made it back onto another cycle route. I camped in the bushes ontop of a hill surrounded by stingy nettles as the night sky was getting too dark to cycle any further. It was a creepy place with random noises but I simply put my headphones on, killed the dozen spiders that somehow got inside my tent, ate the leftovers that Martin gave me and crashed hard! I was so exhausted.
The infomation Center and some interesting things i took photos of when down there.
A replica of a Danish Viking ship.
Looking at my tire it seems i need to get a new one…this one certainly isnt going to last long.
Icelandic horses (Apparantly) and a pleasant road i cycled down… standing in the middle of the road annoying the oncoming motorists
All wet, hungry and miserable but someone put this out… it made my day
