I havent done any cycling in days now, I should change the title to 'Not cycling across Canada'
Waking up this morning was difficult but needed to be done because I really needed to cover some distance on the road and sort out some things for the next leg of the journey.
Fortunately I had an offer from Halee's mum to take me over 2 hours further east in the afternoon towards their cabin along side a river, this would shave off 2 days of cycling so I took her up on the offer. This gave me the day to make a new batch of Jerky and charge my portables.
As a favor in return I helped Cara with some gardening work and mowed their lawn.
When it was time to go I said my farewells to Halee and I set off with her folks.
Later, as it was getting dark Cara and Don invited me to their cabin and they would take me around midday back to the road. I thought why the hell not, im suppose to be enjoying this bicycle trip although I do have the deadline to be in Toronto to see my folks on the 22nd; also Halee raved about how great the cabin was. Don also invited me to go fishing in the morning with him and Cara's brother Grant – I agreed to this too, fishing all morning – it should be fun, when in Rome!.
When we arrived to the cabin by boat it was late but we started things off with White Russians sitting on Cara's stools around her incredible Tiki bar that Don built himself. It was good fun chatting, telling jokes and later even seeing the Northern lights flicker green in the skies overhead – this was the first time I had seen them and wow was it impressive, its a shame I didnt have my tripod but sometimes you cant enjoy the moment when looking though the viewfinder of the camera.
Shortly later I knocked off to bed to be fresh in the morning for fishing.
The Process of making my Jerky – yum yum
Mowing the Stephanchuk’s Lawn – not bad for a first timer
The point alongside the highway where the Prairies stop.
Cheating when crossing over to Ontario – why do mum and dad have to make things so inconvenient that i have to rush to see them?
Hey Jono, long time no speak. I just stumbled across this blog - loving it! I'm home sick and have pretty much read the entire thing. You sure do love free food.
ReplyDeleteGood luck and stay safe!
