imageAs much as I like cycling the mountains it can be slow paced and today was about time I see some of the Japanese coastline.
Surprisingly the beaches are quite nice with plenty of yellow sand and you are likely to have the beach to yourself as the multitude of beaches I passed today there was no body about... Like always when outside the cities.
I passed by the Akashi Kaimyo bridge which is just massive, someone told me it runs 14km however I'm not sure on that detail. It's quite an impressive sight and a feat of structural engineering.
Something I always try and avoid is eating a fast food but today I made an exception; maccy D's or commonly known as McDonald's. They had an unusual option on the menu a black hamburger for the special occasion of Halloween... Something I highly doubt they celebrate here.

It looks terrible and it was... Not going to lie, the novelty wore off very quickly.. Actually the moment I took a bite.

I found a cycling road running from Akashi to Himeji and thought it would be a more direct way of getting further west but it was a slow path due to the cracks in the pavement, also many times it would intersect with a road and every time I had to question whether or not the driver would stop for me in the zebra crossing... There doesn't seem to be a rule for this but knowing that they are generally very cautious drivers I was pretty safe to proceed across.
I didn't quite make it to Himeji as the sun had set and I was looking for a good place to watch the lunar eclipse away from city lights. I found a small park that I later camped in and watched our earth cast its shadow over the moon. Always spectacular to see but the locals who passed by me were oblivious to why I was taking photos of the moon. I would express my enthusiasm toward the now glowing red object in the sky and they remained expressionless...
