Fisting the air for no good reason other than I was happy to be at the top of the pass
Due to high winds the ferries between Sumbawa and Flores are running dependently on the rough seas. I arrived in Sape being told that the afternoon ferry was running but was soon cancelled and not to depart until tomorrow morning however many of the locals said I would have to wait for 4 days!
I will have to see tomorrow but a bonus is that tonight I will be sleeping within the port with a very intelligent man named Harry.
Harry speaks English impeccably well having studied international criminal law and despite the fact he tried pushing his religious beliefs on me his slight ignorance to the theory of evolution amongst other non religious ideals was made up for simply because he was a kind soul with much else to talk about.
I pitched my tent on a platform outside his shack of a home/shop selling essentials on an elevated platform where I had a mass of locals and stationed truck drivers watch me erect and crawl into my tent. I believe most people would have a concern about safety doing this but me, I don't.
I had a hectic climb up a mountain pass to almost 500 meters today but his will be training for when/if I make it to Flores because apparently the terrain and roads are suppose to be insane and only suitable for those with Tour de France levels of endurance and strength - I like challenges.
