These five days returning to Bali and to the hostel I stayed at previously a few weeks ago were stressful and exhausting, this was mainly due to my GPS no longer working and having to cycling around Denpasar like a headless chicken... that is if headless chickens cycle... looking for a replacement system which was impossible.
I searched everywhere from back alley computer stores, to the high end malls, looking at online options and even finding a Garmin product distributor but unfortunately they did not stock what I was looking for.
The other part of being stressed out was because I had to fly to Singapore but only being there for 4 hours before having to return to Bali - annoyingly this was the day before my GPS broke where Singapore would have been easy to find what I was looking for.
Anyway in the end I managed to pick up a smart phone with GPS capabilities that in fact works far better as a navigation device whilst cycling than any dedicated system on the market, it can make calls, play music, track my route, navigate me from point A to point B and I now even have the entire map of Indonesia uploaded to it.
I honestly don't know why it is so important to me to log my routes and have navigation system as it is easy enough to read a map and I could have bought a basic cycle computer to calculate the distance of my day.. Ahh, me and technology get along and I like to have new toys to play with but there was no reason for me to get stress out over this.
Well, mentioning toys, I bought myself a new fancy flash for my camera to experiment with more macro photography so look forward to the creepy crawlies that I will photograph soon.
Money spent: FAR TO MUCH !!!
Cool rainbow effect, just so you know it didn’t look like this when peering out the window. it is because I had my polarizer filter attached and light was refracting from the glass and plastic windows… still it looks great though
