Today was suppose to dump down with rain so Romain and I hung about with Marko at his place only leaving to go to the nearby supermarket to buy some groceries that I needed to cook up some food for us all in the evening. We ended up staying in this small town for a while to have tea and some bitter alcoholic spirit.
It's hard to come by someone who has more stories than I do and Marko who spent half his life in Canada and his life stories and experiences before, during and after could be considered both as unbelievable and incredible. He has met famous musicians, political leaders, movie stars, etc. You name it. It was rather difficult to get a word in but the way he told the stories with such detail and passion you did not want to interrupt anyway.
The three of us drank over 4 liters of wine throughout the afternoon and evening and smoked far too many cigarettes, for a 75yo Marko certainly is shortening his life by chain-smoking constantly.
This is a guy no one could ever forget and I certainly will not, I learnt a lot about life through his stories and even after traveling for seven years my life experiences don't even come close to the shit this guy has gone through.
I cooked up something simple for dinner that, again, everything was munched down.
It was a simple day just to relax my legs and figure out a plan to sort out my bicycle wheel that will eventually throw me off my bicycle and kill me. I hope I can find a bike shop soon.
