Another early morning start having get the latest morning bus to the airport at 8:30 despite my flight not departing till after midday. Thankfully I had some company with one of the Aussie girls (Freia) I had met other other day along with a guy from Germany (Robert).
I was told you could get a passport stamp at the airport indicating that you have visited there so i went in search, I found a small souvinear shop offering free Galapagos stamps but really it was so tacky, not worth getting.
I managed to score a few extra snacks from the flight crew on board the airplane which is always nice.
Arriving in Guayaquil I had to make the long and dangerous journey to the bus terminal by foot, it was only a 20 minute walk away and I wasn't going to pay the $4 for the taxi. A woman I met on the walk there told me I shouldnt speak to people as they would probably rob me - in broad daylight for this to happen was highly unlikely.
Anyways I managed to get to the bus terminal just in time to get the last seat on the bus arriving seconds before the bus departed, it really was a close call.
After enduring the 3 hour bus journey sitting next to a smelly, farting (they go hand in hand), fat woman I walked into the town of Montañita. Now when I arrived, not to sound like a hippy, I got a very bad vibe from the people and the place, I was thinking of perhaps spending Christmas elsewhere; there was a reason for this though, after finding a cheap place to stay I went for a walk around the small town I bumped into Jessica who I met in Quito some weeks ago, she told me that only a few days ago a girl drug dealer, a tourist only 19 was murdered and left on the front steps of her boyfriends place. The village people found three guys who were the culprits and beat them nearly to death, took them to the beach to burn them but then the police showed up. Hearing this story was pretty fucked up but lets hope things can ease up for Christmas from what I have been told as the safest place in ecuador!?.
