With a very painful hangover and not having slept all that well I packed up gear and left Carmen's place at 12:30. I didnt want to push myself today as I was feeling like death as I cycled along the highway continuing East.
Thankfully again it was another beautiful day and I had quite a good amount of tailwind.
I cycled by Sparwood and checked out the main tourist attraction in town it was the biggest truck ever made, a picture below will show just how big the thing is. And that was it, the biggest truck, nothing more and nothing less... moving on...
Oh, as I cycle along the shoulder of the road I often keep an eye out for useful things, today I scored something very cool, an authority standard Breathalyzer in a Pelican Case, I got the thing working but it may be inaccurate because it said my BAC was 0.00, this cannot be true as I was still feeling hungover and could still taste last night alcohol on my breath, ill test it out next time I drink, if its broken I still scored a nifty waterproof case.
Crossing into Alberta was a big change, from a 3 foot shoulder to 6 feet... also because it was the end of a long weekend many people were headed back home from BC congesting the road through Crowsnest pass... I reckon I would have overtaken at least 200 cars cruising along at 40 km/h as they were all jammed up, I passed with a smirky smile as the wind was supporting my speed as was the gradient of the road because I was just about to hit up the Praries.
Now this was a massive change... it didnt take long for the scenery to change from green pine forests hillsides to yellow dying grass seen for kilometers on the flats that are the Prairies.
Two couples of Americans travelling together who I met a few days ago at a rest stop pulled over to say hi which of course is always nice; also at this time of day in the late afternoon to take some amazing photos dissapointly my camera had died meaning I have to do some more repair work on the thing soon.
There were no longer places for me to camp easily without being scene, sleeping behind a hay bale in a paddock was an option but I wouldnt have been very well hidden instead as it was getting close to dark I headed into the town of Pincher Creek where after asking around I found a nice secluded area beside a creek.
Oh, and by the way I just cycled over the Canadian Rocky's – booya!
Another view of Gorgeous British Columbia
THE bigest trunk in the world! Sparwood, BC. I reckon the only attraction in Sparwood.
Almost over the Rocky’s, - the last pass to tackle.
