After closer inspection of my left calf it turns out that I was bitten by an insect and it swelled up making it difficult to walk/cycle and thankfully when I woke this morning it was all better to embark on the days terrain.
And mountainous it was; I climbed almost two kilometers of altitude alone over the Japanese Alps also having no choice to use the tunnels that I encountered with the exception of two lengthy tunnels that offered a bypass over the mountains. These I enjoyed thoroughly where I was able to enjoy the fantastic views of my surroundings. The roads were excellent too with little to no traffic, certainly a welcome change.
These two bypasses I followed too me to some great and strange places, the views were a given but also I checked out an abandoned hotel that was hair stand on end creepy with the sounds of creaking doors as gusts of wind would hit it. Of course I went inside to look for a possible camping place but the eerily feeling of the place had me continue cycling.

The last days I have been trying to ration my food to save cash but this afternoon I spoiled myself to many if life's luxuries, fast food, chocolate, donuts and coke. Even when I was full I continued to eat, indulging to a point of pure zen! It was awesome.
Looking for a place to camp for the night I ventured away from the main road and found a quiet little place in the forest down what seemed to be an unused road.
Having pitched my tent and as I write this there are some really unfamiliar sounds from what I can only imagine are creatures that will frighten me awake in the night. Of course it's probably just a monkey or wild boar... I just hope I don't have to come face to face with it or them.
I suppose the abandoned hotel has got me all freaked out.
.... Ok 11:30pm and something large just ran by my tent...
