I'm glad to tell you (the readers of this blog) that the roads in Albania are not always terrible, in fact today was very decent with roads, even wide enough shoulders for cycling, yes there is a lot of debris, garbage and rotting carcasses of household pets that needed some swerving around but for the majority of the day the road was good.
I covered the distance that I wanted to and what's more, I had fun doing so.
Leaving Alexander's place in the morning with a packed lunch that I saved for an easy dinner I mounted my bicycle and head led south east towards Macedonia.
Not much to report other than having some fries and salad at a family run truck-stop restaurant where I had fun entertaining the young kids with simple tricks eg. Loosely waving a put to make it look like rubber. the family enjoyed my company and wanted me to stay longer but I had to go towards the mountain hoping that the rain coming in a few days won't hinder my course towards Greece and Turkey.
I camped in an abandoned tunnel elevated from the main road.
Bunch of friendly Albanians at a restaurant that i stopped at
Elbasan, Albania
Around Elbasan, apparantly there are no McDonalds in Albania, perhaps i was told wrong
Into the mountains.
Congratulations. You found the first McD here. I knew one day they would come.
